Program #1
Endemic Tylomelania Snail
This program focuses on collecting data to identify the presence and distribution of the Tylomelania zeamais population in Lake Matano, which has been listed as “Possibly Extinct” on the IUCN Red List. The program also conducts awareness-raising campaigns by telling stories about this snail at elementary schools around the lake.

Safeguarding Critically Endangered Atyids
Shrimps
This program aims to survey the occurrence and map the distribution of the endemic atyid shrimp species Caridina spp. found in Lake Matano. The team has successfully mapped the distribution of all species in its entirety. In addition, conservation education campaigns were conducted at several schools around the lake.

Safeguarding Critically Endangered Fish Paratherina labiosa in Lake Lontoa
The primary goal of this program is to locate the missing Paratherina labiosa. This species has been classified as endangered and has not been sighted for several decades.
Program #4
Eradicating Alien Species to Save Endemics of The Ancient Lake
This project will eradicate or drastically reduce the populations of non-native fish, including the armored catfish (Pterygoplichthys pardalis) and the Louhan cichlid (Cichlasoma sp.), in Lake Matano. These invasive species have been identified as the primary threat to the lake’s endemic fauna. This program integrates scientific knowledge with community-based action to eradicate invasive species and preserve endemic species.

Our Purpose
